| | | 1950s Boxed German Composition Trotting Toy(Reference #03-9-22)
 Made in West Germany, this delightful and unusual Arabian trotting toy measures 6 inches long. It is made of a pleasing combination of composition, tinplate and plastic and is in very fine original condition. It is equipped with a fully functioning wind-up motor (but please note that a key is not provided) and works extremely well. Wind it up and it shoots along the ground, the horse's legs moving realistically as it does so. It is an excellent representation of the sport of trotting. There are absolutely no defects to the toy and even the box is in very good condition, just suffering from very slight scuffing to the corners and edges.

|  | 1930 German Cigarette and Matchbox W/U Joke(Reference #03-4-01p)
This amusing joke/novelty toy was made in Germany in the 1930s, and measures 3" by 2". It is wound up by turning the matchbox, and when set down remains motionless until someone picks it up, when it starts to move!!! - much to the consternation of the person who has presumably just been offered a cigarette. Practical jokes of this type were extremely popular in Germany in the 1930s, and this is one of the more elaborate examples. It is made of paper and card with a clockwork mechanism inside. It is somewhat grubby and worn through use, but is in full working order. The fictional brand of cigarettes is 'Gents Good Shape', whereas the matchbox is a genuine brand of the time. If you collect smoking memorabilia, then surely this is a must. (#) US$20.00

| 1930s Spanish Tin/Bakelite W/U Dog and Boot(Reference #6-11-42)
Made by Invicta of Spain in the 1930s, this tiny cloth-covered terrier (5" long including boot) manages to worry away at a Bakelite boot that is almost the same size as he is. When wound, the pair vibrate round and produce a passable imitation of a dog playing with a boot. The toy is in very good condition, with absolutely no defects to report. (WR) US$98.00

|  | 1930s Wind-Up Jumping Devil(Reference #9-1-23)
Consisting of a rectangular wind-up motor wrapped up like a parcel and with a printed devil's face stuck to the front and a metal spike protruding from the back, this toy is simplicity itself. Wind it up (but please note that a key is not supplied) and the toy jumps around like an old-fashioned firework. With accentuated features, a pointed head, horns, a long beard, stuck-out tongue and bloodshot blue eyes, this devil is evil personified. Measuring 2" x 1", the toy is in very good condition. The only slight damage to report is that the paper tip of one horn is missing. (25 J) US$30.00
