| 1960s Schuco Tin W/U Vogel Pick Pick Bird(Reference #03-12-44)
Schuco of Germany made this delightful series of pick pick birds both pre- and post-war. This is a post-war example. Measuring 4.5" long, the bird is made of mohair plush-covered tinplate and has a fully functioning wind-up motor (but please note that a key is not supplied). Wind him up and he vibrates round erratically on his tinplate feet while his head bobs down to the ground from time to time as if he is pecking at corn or feed on the ground. He is in perfect working order and is complete with his metal eyes and beak (both of these features are very often missing). The bird does suffer from slight loss of mohair to the top of the head and the tail, as well as to the underside of the tail, but this latter defect is not visible when the toy is on display. This does not seriously detract from the overall attractiveness of this bird toy from one of Germany's premier toy manufacturers.

| | 1930s Celluloid and Plush W/U Monkey(Reference #9-1-22) Consisting of a rectangular wind-up motor wrapped up like a parcel and with a celluloid monkey's face and arms stuck to the front and sides, and two plush-covered metal spikes as legs protruding from the end, this toy is simplicity itself. Wind it up (but please note that a key is not supplied) and the toy jumps around like an old-fashioned firework. With his arms tucked underneath his chin, this is an extremely appealing monkey. He measures 2" x 1" or 4" x 1" to the end of his legs and is in very good condition. The only slight damage to report is that one celluloid ear is missing. (25 J) US$24.00
