| | 1950s UK Brimtoy Diecast/Tin W/U Bedford Wrecker Truck(Reference #4-12-116) Made by Brimtoy of England as part of its Pocketoy range, this is a very early example of this toy as it has a diecast chassis, rather than a plastic one. Measuring 3.5" long, the truck has a fully functioning wind-up motor (but please note that a key is not provided), and a winding handle for the winch. There are some paint chips to the diecast chassis, and the towing string needs to be replaced, but there are no other defects to report. (#) US$50.00

| | Post-war Minic Tin W/U Articulated Lorry with Cases 40M(Reference #4-7-318) Made by Tri-ang (Lines Brothers) of England both pre- and post-war, this tinplate and wind-up articulated lorry is a post-war version with a forward control cab. Measuring 6" long, the lorry consists of the cab and a trailer with one set of rear double wheels. It is in full working order, but please note that a key is not provided. The Tri-ang decals on the sides are complete and intact, and the lorry is in very acceptable condition for its age. However, it does suffer from some paint loss, particularly to the mudguards, as well as minor overall scuffing. Originally, the lorry would have had six wooden cases; these days, it only has two, and one of those has five of its six surfaces painted black. However, this is still an eminently displayable example of a Minic commercial vehicle. (J) US$170.00

| 1960s Japanese Commercial Vehicles in Retailer's Box(Reference #03-11-13) This delightful set of 12 tinplate and plastic push along commercial vehicles is still complete in the original retailer's box. Measuring 11.25 inches x 7.25 inches, the box is brightly lithographed and is marked with the manufacturer's mark of an Indian chief's head. The box is in very good condition; even the stand-up flap on the lid has yet to be pressed out. The vans each measure 4 inches long, have a plastic cab, lithographed back, and tinplate base. They are all different and feature lithography relating to a different sales item. These are musical instruments, toys and dolls, bread, milk, sporting goods, birds, puppies, fresh fruit, flowers, ice cream, watches, and cakes. The vans are all in very good condition and would make a fantastic display of 1960s Japanese tinplate toy manufacture - in or out of the box. (#) US$ 200.00

| | 1960s Chinese Tin Friction Oil Tanker(Reference #4-2-21) Made in China in the 1960s, this impressive looking tinplate and friction oil tanker measures fourteen inches long. Issued under catalogue number MF201, the tanker features an interesting design of laboratory vessels on one side, as well as a flame motif on the back. It is in good condition, although it does lack the front oval end of the tanker section. However, as this is effectively hidden by the back of the cab, this is hardly serious. Apart from this, the toy only suffers from minor scuffing, print loss, and scratching. The friction motor is in full working order and makes that clack-clack sound so beloved of the Chinese state toy factories. If oil- or petrol-related toys are your passion, then here's an unusual item for your collection. (WR) US$30.00
