1940s English 'Mormit' Soft Plastic Doll.(Reference #09-9-01m)
Made by Morris Mitchell & Co of England in the 1940s, this 15" soft plastic doll has revolutionary (at the time) take-apart limbs, moulded hair and eyes, and sleeping eyes. He is now dressed in clothing of the period that is not original. London County Council bought larger versions of this doll for use as a maternity baby care training doll. As with all soft plastic dolls of this period, this example is subject to discoloration, but is in otherwise very acceptable condition. Please note that the doll is heavy. US$44.00

Late 1950s English Pedigree 'Walking African Boy' Late 1950s English Pedigree 'Walking African Boy'(Reference #09-8-01bd)
Standing 16" tall, this gorgeous hard plastic boy doll has an astrakhan wig, sleeping and flirting brown eyes, open mouth with teeth, and jointed limbs. Made by Pedigree of England in the late 1950s, the doll is complete with his original costume of green trousers, floral top, and straw boater. He has a fully operational walking mechanism: his head and eyes move sideways as he walks. The doll is in absolutely lovely condition: there are just a couple of small marks to the face above the nose and on the forehead. Boy dolls are always rarer than girl dolls and this Pedigree black boy doll is a relatively uncommon item.

1960s Canadian Deeancee Vinyl Mountie Doll in Costume 1960s Canadian Deeancee Vinyl Mountie Doll in Costume(Reference #5-6-527)
Far fewer boy dolls than girl dolls were made, and that makes this delightful chap from the 1960s rather desirable. What makes him even more desirable though is that he is dressed in the costume of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Not surprisingly, he hails from Canada and is made by Deeancee. Standing 15" tall, he is made of vinyl, with hard plastic limbs and body, and a soft plastic head. The doll is fully jointed, has plastic sleep eyes that still work as they should, and is complete with his original costume, although we do not know whether he originally had a hat. The costume consists of a necktie, red jacket, blue trousers with gold stripe, and brown boots. For his age, this Mountie is in very acceptable condition. There is some fading and marking to the trousers, some wear to the boots, and he has a healthy sun-tan to his face and hands which makes the rest of his body look pale, but there are no other defects to report. If you're a fan either of the RCMP or of Deeancee dolls, then this could well be the item for you. (WR) US$54.00

1950s Hong Kong Plastic Bikini Doll - Dressed as Bride 1950s Hong Kong Plastic Bikini Doll - Dressed as Bride(Reference #02-7-5m)
This 6.5" tall plastic doll is marked MADE IN HONG KONG on the back. She has painted facial features including a somewhat exaggerated use of the eyebrow pencil that was so fashionable in the 1950s. The doll was originally dressed as a bikini doll with separate plastic sea-shell top, shorts and high-heeled shoes. This costume is still in place, but the maker has over-dressed the doll in a bridal costume of two-tiered lacy skirt, veil and over-sized pink rose. The doll is in very good condition - without any defects to report. (WR) US$20.00

Price: £10.00

Immediate Post-War Hard Plastic Palitoy Doll(Reference #6-1-65)
This 7" tall hard plastic doll is marked PALITOY and MADE IN ENGLAND on the back. She has painted facial features, a synthetic wig in slightly distressed condition (the doll looks as though she has had a severe fright), fixed plastic eyes, jointed arms, stiff legs, and painted silver shoes. Apart from the wig, the doll is in very good condition and would make an interesting addition to any collection of early plastic dolls. (WR) US$20.00

1960s Boxed Italian Soft Plastic Doll 1960s Boxed Italian Soft Plastic Doll(Reference #9-11-57)
Although this 15.5" tall dressed soft plastic doll is still contained in its original box, there is no indication of the name of the manufacturer. There is only one label on the box and all that states is '420, 701, Made in Italy'. The doll is fully jointed, has plastic sleep eyes, rooted hair, and is dressed in a very attractive peasant-style frock. The only slight defects to report are that the doll lacks one set of eyelashes, and the box suffers from some crushing and creasing. However, this is a delightful doll that would enhance any collection of 1960s plastic dolls. (WR) US$24.00

Price: £12.00

1950s Hard Plastic Dolls (2)(Reference #6-8-234a)

The larger one is fully articulated and has sleep eyes; the smaller one has articulated limbs, sleep eyes, and is still contained in its original cellophane wrapping. There is no damage to report to either doll.

1950s UK Rosebud Plastic Boy Doll 1950s UK Rosebud Plastic Boy Doll(Reference #6-2-76)
This hard plastic boy doll measures 6.5" high and was made by Rosebud of England in the 1950s. He was part of the Rosebud Miniatures range and is in excellent original condition. The only slight defect to report is a small moulding flaw to the top of the head. He has a one-piece straight leg body with jointed arms, moulded hair, painted sleep eyes, and a rosy sucked in cheeks expression. This is a very attractive doll from one of the UK's foremost manufacturers of plastic dolls of the period.

1975 Plastic Doll Character with Moving Arms(Reference #02-7-5e)
Marked with a copyright date of 1975 and the maker's name - GMFGI (who also made the early Star Wars dolls), this interesting doll character stands 13" tall to the top of his head. We believe that he is a representation of some film or television character but, unfortunately, do not know which one. Although the doll does not have any legs, he appears to be complete. He is dressed in a blue cotton tunic with lacing down the front, and has a natural fibre moustache and beard; his hair is unfortunately missing. His arms are jointed and can be raised by means of pulling on a cord in the interior of the doll. Apart from the hair loss, there is no other damage to report. (WR) US$20.00

1950s Japanese Hard Plastic Roly Poly Men (2) 1950s Japanese Hard Plastic Roly Poly Men (2)(Reference #5-9-421)
Though unmarked, these two knock over figures are believed to have been made in Japan in the 1950s. They each measure 3.75" high and are in good external condition, with no cracks or other damage to the plastic. However as Roly Poly figures, they are now a bit of a disappointment because they no longer roll over and then right themselves. The reason for this is that the internal weights have become unglued from the bottom, and thus there is nothing to return the men to the vertical position after they have been knocked over. Even so, they make an attractive pair of early plastic toys, as the Harlequin man is particularly appealing, are inexpensive, and would display well. (~ 158) US$20.00
