1936 Spanish Rico Tin W/U Motorcyclist(Reference #02-12-6a)
Made by the Spanish firm of Rico in 1936, this somewhat serious and very upright motorcyclist measures 4.5"long and 3.5" high. Brightly lithographed in orange, red and blue, this is a toy that is very much of its time. The rider sports a leather jacket, boots and helmet, together with the obligatory goggles; the bike is equipped with leather pannier bags. This must have been a very cheaply made toy as we have had several examples, but only one that worked, and that was in poor print condition. This example is in pretty good print condition, but has no spring, although the integral key is still present and correct. The lithography is still bright and shiny and only suffers from surface marking, most noticeably to the areas surrounding the seam where the two halves of the toy are clipped together. Although it no longer works, this toy is still eminently displayable. It is a very attractive toy motorbike that would enhance any collection of such items. (#) US$170.00

Unusual 1950s Tin W/U Clown Acrobat Motorbike Unusual 1950s Tin W/U Clown Acrobat Motorbike(Reference #02-7-23)
Made in Japan in the 1950s by TOY, this is a particularly attractive tinplate and wind-up motorcycle. Measuring 6" long, it is very brightly lithographed in red, yellow, white and green and has an absolutely superb action. Use the integral key to wind it up and it travels along the ground in a straight line but then, every so often, it spins round in circles as the clown lifts himself off the saddle. The motorbike is in very good condition for its age; all it suffers from is very slight scuffing to the clown's knees and the sides of the bike (by the running rabbits) where the clown has moved up and down over the years. This is an absolutely superb toy motorbike that would enhance any serious collection of such toys. (125 #) US$900.00

1930s SFA Tin W/U Motorcycle and Sidecar 1930s SFA Tin W/U Motorcycle and Sidecar(Reference #7-9-61)
This French wind-up tinplate motorcycle and sidecar was made in the 1930s and measures 6.5" long. It is in working order (but please note that a key is not supplied), and is most attractively printed with fine engine detailing and a rider clad in leather helmet and goggles. The toy is in somewhat playworn condition and therefore exhibits some dry rusting (most noticeably to the engine housing), surface scratching, and small areas of print loss. The rear end of the sidecar also does not fit as tightly as when the toy was first made because the retaining lugs have broken off. However, this motorcycle toy is still in collectable condition and would make an interesting addition to any collection of motorcycling memorabilia. The toy is marked both MADE IN FRANCE and PARIS - SFA, the latter mark appearing on the front of the sidecar and on both sides of the fuel tank. (150 #) US$440.00
