It has an asymmetrical carved top, opening drawer, attractively turned front legs, and carved outline back legs. A sheet of tin (which does not reflect) does duty for the mirror. | | 1940s US Renwal Doll's House Settee and Armchair (2)(Reference #8-4-02vc) Made by Renwal of the US in the 1940s, both of these pieces of plastic doll's house furniture are clearly marked with the maker's name on the base. Both pieces are very much of their time, and are complete and intact. Both are exquisitely detailed: just take a look at the frames, and the scalloped edge and raised fabric of the chair. The settee measures 5" long; the armchair stands 3" tall. There are no defects to report. (WR) US$20.00

| 1930s English Wooden Doll's House Bed and Dressing Table(Reference #01-7-12bt) This selection comprises a wooden bed and a dressing table with mirror, both of which were made in England in the 1930s. The bed has attractively carved ends and legs, and measures 6" long by 3" high. It is in very acceptable condition for its age, as is the dressing table. This stands 4" tall and measures 3.5" long. It is attractively carved and modelled, and the mirror still rotates as it should. There is loss of silvering to the edges of the mirror, but no other defects to report. (WR) US$20.00

| | 1920s Doll's House Table - Scallop Edges, Floral Design(Reference #7-12-13ft) On offer here is a truly exceptional doll's house table. Standing 3.5" tall and made of wood, the table has a delicate green veneer. It also has an extremely intricate leg arrangement, probably in imitation of the full-scale original which would have folded down. The table top has a wonderful scalloped shape and features an intricate floral pattern with a central flower-head surrounded by willowy daisies gently moving in the wind. There is a small glue repair to one of the legs, slight paint loss to the four supporting struts, and slight streaking to the table top where the wooden surface is beginning to show through. However, none of this is serious enough to detract from the appeal of this most attractive item of doll's house furniture. (WR) US$50.00

| 1930s Doll's House China Toilet with Wooden Cover(Reference #7-12-12tt) This charming miniature living item is completely unmarked, but probably dates from the 1930s. Standing almost 2.5" tall, it is made of white glazed china, with blue and gold transfer printing to the front and on the inside. It has a painted seat and hinged wooden cover. The toilet is in very good condition for its age. The only minor defects to mention are slight factory retouching to the seat, a small crack to the glazing of the front, and some grubbiness to the inside although we have cleaned the toilet as best we can. (WR) US$30.00

| | Pair of Vintage Cast Metal Miniature Candlesticks(Reference #6-10-164) These impressive-looking cast metal candlesticks once formed part of a large doll's house furniture and miniatures collection. We do not know exactly how old they are, but they are clearly not of recent manufacture. Standing just under 3" tall, they have decorated bases, a central stem that ends in a cast flame, and three candle-holders. They are surprisingly heavy for their size, and are in very good condition. The only minor defect to mention is slight unevenness in the bases which probably arose during manufacture; this does not affect their stability. (WR) US$20.00

If you like old and original dolls house furniture, this would be a great piece to acquire. (#) US$20.00

| 1930s UK Wooden Doll's House Dresser/Sideboard(Reference #6-10-148) Though unmarked, this wooden doll's house dresser/sideboard is believed to be English in origin and to date from the 1930s. It stands nearly 6.25 inches tall, has two opening top and bottom cupboard doors, and is in generally good condition. It is well made, and the wood could be oak, although we are unsure of this. The original price of 6/- (six shillings) is written on the back in pencil. In any case, this is a stunning piece of furniture, which could look imposing in a variety of settings. (#) US$44.00

| | 1930s UK Wooden Doll's House Dressing Table(Reference #6-2-69) Though unmarked, this wooden doll's house dressing table is believed to be English in origin and to date from the 1930s. It stands nearly 5" high, and is in generally good condition except for the mirror, where the silvering has deteriorated with age. Nevertheless, it is an impressive piece of furniture, which would look perfect in the right setting. (#) US$36.00

| 1960 UK Doll's House Refectory Table and Chairs(Reference #9-12-03yy) Sold by The Design Centre in London in the 1960s (it still has their label on the underside of the table), this delightful refectory table was made by Folk Toys. The table measures 3 inches long and the two chairs are 1.75 inches high. They are very well made, entirely from wood, and the table is stamped underneath Folk Toys made in England. There must be a doll's house out there just waiting for a refectory table and two chairs of this quality. (J) US$20.00

| | 1900 UK Doll's House Ladder-back Chairs (2)(Reference #7-12-12pp) We believe that these two ladder-back style dolls house chairs were made in England in the very early years of the 20th century. They are unmarked, but are exquisitely executed miniatures of the full size article. The two chairs are not a pair because they have a different back design, and one has arms. They each stand 3.5 inches tall, and are in good condition, except for the fact that one is missing the support strut from the front of the chair. A particular feature of both chairs is the finely finished miniature cane seating (identical to that found on a full size chair), which looks good enough to sit on, size permitting. These would be just the right kind of chair to place in the hall of a doll's house of the correct period. (WR) US$100.00

| 1930 Japan Porcelain Doll's House Basin(Reference #7-12-12zz) This delightful doll's house basin stands just 1.75 inches high, is made of porcelain, and is marked FOREIGN on both the back and the bottom. It was most probably made in Japan, but it could equally well have been manufactured in Germany. Apart from a small chip to the rear of the pedestal, it is ready to see service again in a doll's house near you. US$20.00

| | 1950 UK Wooden Doll's House Bookcase(Reference #5-10-84) This delightful representation of a bookcase from the 1950s stands 2.5 inches tall, and is filled with painted wooden books. It is in good condition, and the original price is marked on the back, 2 shillings and 9 pence (2/9d). The books are not removable, but that won't stop the bookcase from looking good in the corner of your doll's house dining room. (#) US$30.00

| 1940s German Tinplate Doll's Bathroom(Reference #01-12-07a)
Marked 'MADE IN US ZONE GERMANY', this spray-painted tinplate doll's bathroom measures 10" x 5.5" x 4.5" and includes a fixed washbasin, toilet, towel rail, and two taps. Behind each tap is a water cistern; when filled with water, the taps can be used in a realistic manner to fill the washbasin and the bath that would once have formed part of this set. Sadly, as this was a separate item, this is now missing. The bathroom is attractively lithographed with orange decoration and is in reasonable condition for its age, but does suffer from minor paint loss, flaking and crackelature. However, it is in eminently displayable condition and would make an attractive addition to any collection of tinplate doll's furniture, particularly if you happen to already own a suitable tinplate bath.

It would make a charming addition to the hallway of any doll's house. (50 *) US$20.00

| 1930s Wooden Doll's Dining Suite(Reference #94-119) Probably made in England in the 1930s, this doll's dining suite consists of an oval table and four chairs. The table measures 11.5" long and 8" wide; the chairs stand 7" high. The wood has a varnished finish and all of the pieces have attractively shaped legs, although one of the chairs does lack two legs. Apart from this, the suite is in very good condition; there is just minor marking to the back of one of the chairs. It would make a delightful display piece for bears or dolls of a suitable size. Please note that the bears and accessories are not included. (WR) US$36.00

| | 1960s English Wooden Doll's Cradle(Reference #01-7-3k) Probably made in England in the 1960s, this wooden doll's rocking cradle measures 12" long. Made of three- and five-plywood, it is in very acceptable condition for its age and still rocks as it should. The only slight defect to report is water staining to one end section. It would make a very comfortable night-time resting place for any bear or doll of a suitable size. Please note that the bear is not included; he is being used for display purposes only. (TR) US$20.00

| Pre-war German Miniature Pots and Pans (4)(Reference #9-12-04c) Probably designed to accompany a spirit-fired stove of the pre-war period, these delightful copper cooking pots and pans are between 2" and 2.5" in diameter. The items comprise a frying pan (lacking handle(s)) with lid, saucepan with lid, stewing pot with lid, and a long-handled skillet. There is some age-related tarnishing but, apart from the handle damage to one item noted above, these cooking utensils are in very acceptable condition for their age. (100 *) US$30.00

| | 1950s Novelty Scent Bottle of a Doll's Lamp(Reference #9-12-04b) Comprising a glass bottom, metal middle section and green plastic shade, this novelty perfume bottle of a doll's house oil lamp measures 3" high. It is in very good condition with no damage to report. The lamp can be disassembled into its three constituent parts, if so desired. The glass bottom section is attractively fluted, but is somewhat misshapen because of an original manufacturing flaw. The green plastic shade is attractively fashioned in a swirling pattern. The paper seal is still attached to the top of the glass section and with coloured liquid (perfume) in the base, the lamp would have made an appealing gift for little girls. Once they had used the perfume, they would still have been the proud owners of an attractive doll's house accessory. There is no indication of the maker of country of origin, but the bottle is believed to date from the 1950s. This item would make a handsome addition either to a collection of larger scale miniature living or to one of scent and perfume bottles. (25 #) US$20.00

| Early 20th Century Cast Iron Wheelbarrow(Reference #3-11-247) This cast iron wheelbarrow, measuring 4" long, is in undamaged condition, but with some loss of paint. It is believed to date from the early years of the 20th century and to be of either English or American manufacture. The only distinguishing marks are on the underside of the wheelbarrow, are cast in and appear to read 'RD 363331'. This is an unusual small cast iron toy that would appeal to collectors either of gardening items or of cast iron. (125 *) US$20.00

| | 1960s English Tinplate Doll's House(Reference #8-5-2f) This magnificent tinplate two-storey doll's house is called Rose Cottage and measures 16" x 14" x 7". Although it is not marked, Mettoy of England probably made it. It is brightly lithographed in all the colours under the sun and is beautifully designed. Look at the wooden door and shutters with heart-shaped lights, the lantern, the mock Tudor beams, latticed windows, and multi-coloured roof tiles. Although it was made in the 1960s, it is a faithful copy in miniature of the style of houses that were being built in suburbs all over England in the 1930s when people had a desire to revisit and recreate the golden age of the Tudors (Henry VIII, Elizabeth I). The detailing is fantastic. You can even identify the types of flowers: climbing roses, lupins, bluebells. The inside of the house is equally spectacular and is also very much in the style of the 1930s. The bathroom has black and white tiling half-way up the wall, blue and pink his'n'hers towels (in the style of Hollywood), and a fish motif on the pelmets, rug, and the top half of one wall. The bedroom has a floral motif throughout; the carpet is particularly vibrant. The kitchen has a tiled floor, gingham curtains, pictures of foodstuffs on the walls, and the blue and white striped and glazed earthenware pottery on the shelves that was so popular at the period. The living room has a blazing log fire with a hearthrug, exposed beams, a Bless This House plaque, and a rich red carpet. This desirable four-roomed residence is in excellent decorative order throughout and represents an excellent investment opportunity for any doll's house family wishing to move up the property ladder. Please note that this doll's house is a flat pack item that has previously been inadvertently despatched while erected. As a result, it suffered some creasing to the tinplate walls and floors, miraculously without any print loss. Where this has happened, the walls and floors have been restored, leaving only faint traces of the creasing. We have photographed the house at each stage of construction to show how it is erected because, on its next posting, it will be sent flat packed. (WR) US$180.00
