| 1920s China Half-Doll with Clasped Hands(Reference #9-2-41) These porcelain half-dolls were made both in Germany and Japan in the 1920s and 1930s. They could be attached to powder puffs, scent bottles, brushes or other dressing table items as the purchaser wished. There was a considerable vogue for them at the time, and they were produced in a wide range to meet the demand. This is a particularly delicately coloured half-doll as she wears a very pale off-the shoulder pink dress with short sleeves. She clasps her hands demurely in front of her, and her rather severe hairstyle is enlivened by red and blue hair decorations. The doll measures 3" tall and is marked GERMANY on the front of the base. She is in very attractive condition for her age, but does suffer from black marking to the rear of the base. Mercifully, this is barely visible from the front, so the doll would still display very well. (WR) US$50.00

| | 1920s German Porcelain 18th Century Half-Doll(Reference #7-10-102) These porcelain half-dolls were made in Germany in the 1920s, and could be attached to powder puffs or other beauty aids as the purchaser wished. There was a considerable vogue for them at the time, and they were produced in a wide range to meet the demand. This 2.5-inch tall doll is smaller than usual, is dressed in 18th century costume, and is coloured on the front only, probably meaning that she was a cheaper version. She is unmarked, but is almost certainly of German manufacture. There is no damage to report of any kind, and this figure is as good as when it was new in the 1920s. If you collect these curiosities, then see if this doll appeals. (#) US$44.00

| 1920s Japanese Porcelain Half-Doll(Reference #9-2-29) Marked MADE IN JAPAN on the back, this delightful half-doll clearly dates from the 1920s. Just take a look at the style of the hat and the dress, as well as the pose of the doll. She stands 3.5 inches tall, is made of porcelain, and is in beautiful original condition. The only slight defect to report is some roughness to the bottom edge where the doll has probably been attached to some kind of bottom half (pin cushion or tea cosy, for example). This figurine would make a most appealing addition for a discerning collector of these curiosities. (#) US$70.00
