| Pre-war Pressed Steel Marble Bridge(Reference #6-1-116b) Dating from the pre-war period and made of pressed steel, this marble bridge measures 8" long, 2" deep, and has five holes with different values etched over them. It is not marked with a country of manufacture, although the fact that the words 'marble bridge' are etched across the top probably means that it was made either in the US or the UK or at least for export to those countries. The bridge has an attractive patina of wear as it suffers from age-related scuffing and paint loss. However, it would still display very well and could even be used in a competitive marbles event. | | Pre-war Games Counters in Celluloid Container(Reference #5-9-474) This intriguing little item consists of a hinged celluloid container (4" long), with three metal games counters set into its lid, containing sixteen more identical counters. The counters measure three-quarters of an inch in diameter, and have a royal crest and IN MEMORY OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS 1788 impressed on one side, and GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA on the other. George III was indeed on the throne in 1788, although it is difficult to understand the allusion to the good old days. In that year, George had his first attack of insanity, sent the first British convicts to Botany Bay, and looked on while the constitution of the US - lost as a colony five years earlier - was agreed and George Washington was elected first President. Whatever its origin story, this would make an interesting addition to any collection of vintage gaming pieces. Both the container and the counters are in good condition. There are no cracks or dents to the celluloid. (J) US$36.00

| 1910s Boxed Automatic Bridge Partner(Reference #9-8-19) In a play on words, these automatic bridge partners are called draw-bridge. Patented in 1905 and made by Charles Goodall of London, these "two simple, novel and easily-worked automatic partners" permit "a game of bridge for two persons which preserves all the original features of the game for four". The varnished wood partners measure 11" x 3.5" and have the directions for use printed on the underside. They are in good condition with just minor scratching and are complete with their original box. This suffers from paper loss and scuffing and one end flap is almost detached, but the very attractive paper label is mercifully intact. (#) US$36.00
