| | | 1930s English Dean's Rag Book Plush Mickey Mouse Doll(Reference #09-12-30) In late 1929, Dean's Rag Book of England secured a licence from Walt Disney to produce plush Mickey Mouse dolls under registered design number 750611. The company initially produced the dolls in eight sizes, from 6" up to 21", although a 48" version was added in 1932. On offer here is an example of the 8" size. The dolls were made using the company's patented Evripose jointing system so that the limbs can be bent in any direction. The wire in this example is still complete and intact, so that you can still bend his arms and legs. The body is made of a fine velour fabric, as are the shorts; the face has printed facial features with the registration number printed at the base of the neck. Mickey has boot button eyes and the toothy grin that is so typical of vintage Mickey Mouse toys. The ears and over-sized hands are made of thick felt, as are the tops of the shoes. The soles are made from leather-look material. Mickey is in very acceptable condition for his age: there are half a dozen small moth holes to the shoes (mostly to the backs), one to the back of the left leg, and a small nibble to the left ear. He also lacks his rubber tail (which is always missing because the rubber perishes with age). However, he is still a fine example of one of England's best vintage Mickey toys. US$450.00

| | 1930s UK Welcom Disney Snow White Jigsaw(Reference #03-7-11ww) Made in England by Williams Ellis (Welcom) under licence from Walt Disney-Mickey Mouse Ltd, this puzzle is complete and in very good condition. Issued to coincide with the release of the Disney film in 1937, the puzzle is number two in a series of eight. Entitled 'Whistle While You Work', the puzzle depicts Snow White and assorted animals doing the housework in the cottage. The 200 pieces are made of stout cardboard and are still very brightly coloured. The box has fared less well than the puzzle: it suffers from tearing to one end and minor creasing elsewhere. | 1950s English Boxed Tinplate/Plastic Disney Target Set(Reference #6-3-151) Made by Wells of England in the 1950s under licence from Walt Disney Productions Ltd, this family shooting gallery has a lithographed tinplate frame and four plastic figures of Pluto, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy that spin round when struck with a cork. It measures 11.5" x 7.75" and is in very good condition for its age, probably because the pop gun with corks that would have been included originally is now missing. However, it still makes a very attractive Disney collectible in its own right. The target set is complete with its original box that is attractively printed, but does suffer from tearing and scuffing, and two re-attached end flaps. (WR) US$28.00

| | 1970s English Green Monk Disney Tin Drums (2)(Reference #04-7-3dd) Made by Green Monk Combex of England in the 1970s under licence from Walt Disney Productions, these two tinplate drums (7" in diameter) are brightly lithographed. The printing presents all your favourite Disney characters: Mickey, Donald, Minnnie, Pluto, and Goofy - all playing a musical instrument. The tops and bottoms of the drums are somewhat battered where they have been struck with the drumsticks (these are sadly now missing), but the printed sides are still in good shape. Both drums suffer from very minor print loss and are slightly dented, but would still make very attractive display pieces for a Disney collection. (WR) US$20.00

| | 1930s Disney Snow White Paper/Wood Cut-Outs(Reference #01-7-12) Probably printed in England to coincide with the release of Disneys Snow White, these paper cut-outs of the films characters have been pasted onto the cardboard stands provided in the original set. The set is, unfortunately, no longer complete. It currently consists of the prince riding his horse, five dwarves building a bed for Snow White, a tree surrounded by toadstools, a deer, a pair of rabbits, three separate chipmunks in the forest, and the rear section of the dwarves cottage. There are therefore nine cut-outs in total. They are in very good condition for their age; there is just slight creasing to the edges and thatched roof of the cottage where the paper is not supported by the wooden backing. If youre a fan of Snow White, then these delightful cut-outs could form an extremely attractive backdrop for the other items in your collection of memorabilia. (WR) US$36.00

| | 1960s French Cloth/Vinyl Walking Mickey Mouse(Reference #01-7-11e) Made by Clodrey of France in the 1960s, this very unusual walking Mickey Mouse doll stands 18 inches tall. Made of cloth and plastic and with a vinyl head, Mickey walks courtesy of an air pumping mechanism that is activated by squeezing his hands. When you squeeze his right or left hand, the leg on the corresponding side of his body moves forward. Mickey is in full working order and is in very acceptable condition for his age. All he suffers from is slight paint loss to his nose and head, some marking to his right hand, and some slight grubbiness to the cloth of his feet. Please note that the stand is not included. | 1970s English Linen Disney Winnie-the-Pooh Bear(Reference #05-7-12x) This linen Pooh bear was probably made at home by following a commercially available pattern in England in the 1970s. He is in a seated position and measures 12" tall. Pooh is very well made, and has kapok stuffing and felt facial features. He is in very good condition: there is just slight marking to the left-hand side of his face, below the mouth. Undoubtedly, this is a case of too much honey in one go! He would make an absolutely charming addition to any collection of Winnie-the-Pooh memorabilia. (WR) US$20.00

| | 1950s English Disney Transfer Books (3)(Reference #7-9-81) Issued by Tower Press of England in the 1950s, these three transfer books feature Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Bambi. The three books (actually a pair of covers) enclose a set of transfers that you have to place in a saucer of water until wet so that you can then transfer the picture to another sheet of paper. All three books are in good condition, although the Donald one lacks its transfers, and all of them suffer from marking to the insides where the colour has transferred from the sheet of transfers. As a result, the transfers themselves are somewhat washed out. However, these are unusual items of Disney memorabilia that would enhance any serious collection. (WR) US$44.00

| | 1930s French Rubber Disney Little Pigs (2)(Reference #00-4-24) Although these delightful figures are not marked in any way, they clearly represent Disney's Little Pigs from the 1933 film. Standing 3" tall, they are attractively moulded and represent fiddler pig and practical pig. They are complete, intact, and in very good condition, considering how inherently fragile they are. Apart from some minor scuffing and staining, there are no defects to report. This porky pair would make a stunning addition to any collection of pig-related memorabilia or of Disneyana. (TR) US$50.00

| 1960 Hong Kong Marx Mickey Mouse Puppet(Reference #03-3-18) Louis Marx made this Mickey Mouse articulated figure in Hong Kong in the 1960s. He stands nearly 4" tall on his drum, and when the base is depressed, he can be made to perform various antics. The drum has a small missing section to the top at one side, but this does not affect Mickey's dancing routine. In all other respects, the toy is in original condition. Marx made a large number of different Disney toys in this range, and this is one of the less common. (#) US$98.00

| | 1946 Disney Peter and the Wolf Card Game(Reference #4-9-86)
Produced by Pepys Games in the UK to coincide with the release of the Disney film 'Make Mine Music' in 1946, this Peter and the Wolf card game is complete, has its instructions, and is still contained in its original box. The object of the game is for each player to get rid of his or her cards as quickly as possible. The cards are in very good condition and do not appear to have been played with much; the box hasn't fared quite as well over the years. It suffers from tearing, scuffing, and the loss of one flap to the top. However, if you're a fan of Peter and the Wolf, then this could well be the item for you.

| 1961 Marx Disney Disneykins Leaflet(Reference #9-10-01f)
This leaflet (8.75" x 3.75") illustrates 34 of the 'different masterpieces' of plastic figures that Marx in Hong Kong produced in its Disneykins range. These include characters from 'Alice', 'Pinocchio', Peter Pan', and 'Lady and the Tramp', and 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves'. The leaflet would originally have been included in the small cardboard box that the figures came in, which explains why it has so many folds. However, there are no other defects to report and this is a desirable item, if for no other reason than that it names so many Disneykins characters.

| | 1980s Boxed Mickey Mouse Child's Dinner Set(Reference #8-2-02dd) Made by Superware in Thailand in the 1980s, this boxed Mickey Mouse child's dinner set comprises three melamine pieces: a four-compartment plate measuring 9.5" by 8.5", and a knife and fork. These last two items are plain; the plate features transfers of Mickey and Donald dressed as cowboys and carries the Walt Disney copyright mark. There are no defects to report to the set that is still contained in its original cardboard box. This has suffered somewhat over the years and is now subject to taping, scuffing, and some cardboard loss. It is, nevertheless, complete and intact and has a wonderfully colourful graphic of Mickey and Donald on the front. (~160) US$36.00

| 1961 Marx Disneykin Babes in Toyland Soldier(Reference #02-9-5) This large-scale (3" tall) plastic Marx Disneykins Babes in Toyland Soldier is still contained in its original cardboard sentry box. The soldier is marching and carrying a rifle. He is in absolutely mint and unplayed with condition. The sentry box, however, has not fared as well over the years. It is subject to tearing and creasing which is most pronounced to the top of the box. It is, nevertheless, in pretty remarkable condition for a toy that was issued in 1961. The box is marked both with the Marx trademark and with the Walt Disney Productions copyright. This is an unusual item that is much harder to find in this scale than in the more usual smaller one. | | 1930s UK Mickey Mouse Badge/Minnie Mouse Fork(Reference #02-6-01d) These two unrelated Mickey and Minnie Mouse items from the 1930s are both believed to be English in origin. The 'Mickey Mouse Chums' badge was issued to members of the club run by the comic 'Mickey Mouse Weekly'. It measures 1" in diameter, and is in fair condition. However, it has no pin on the back and the black enamel is missing from Mickey's ears. Nevertheless, the image is unmistakably that of Mickey with pie-cut eyes, and the badge retains a nostalgic charm, despite its condition. The Minnie Mouse fork is the sole survivor of a three-piece set, and measures 4.75" in length. It is in good but used condition, and is stamped with 'My Minnie Mouse' and a picture of Minnie Mouse on the handle. If you're interested in budget items from Mickey's golden era, then these two bits could be for you. (WR) US$30.00

| | 1940s English Disney Boxed Film Strips (3)(Reference #5-4-80) Made in England by Johnsons of Hendon by arrangement with Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Ltd, these three boxed film strips are all complete with their reading sheets and are in very good condition. They are for use with the Disney film projector also marketed by Johnsons, but would undoubtedly work with any similar apparatus. They comprise 24 slides each, either two 12-slide stories or one 24-slide story, and are wound round a wooden peg (2" long). The sets are number 31, comprising Mickey and the Beanstalk; number 29, comprising Johnny Appleseed and Little Toot, both from Melody Time; number 27, comprising Sleep-Walker Donald, featuring Donald and Daisy, and The Stolen Pup, featuring Pluto and Ronnie. In the second set, the top edge of the celulloid film strip is ragged and, in the third set, there is a small tear to the end section of the celluloid, but this does not interfere with the cells in either case. The boxes suffer from slight scuffing and tearing, but are in overall remarkably good condition for their age. These items could be of interest both to collectors of Disney and of optical toys. | 1930s Snow White Magic Mirror Optical Book(Reference #03-7-11aa) This fantastic optical novelty book was published by Dean & Son Limited of London especially for Stephenson Brothers Limited of Bradford (manufacturers of furniture and floor polishes) in the 1930s as a promotional item. The book could only be obtained from Stephenson Brothers in exchange for saved tokens from their various products and a cash contribution and is, consequently, very scarce today. The book has a pair of coloured magic spectacles (worn but usable) through which can be viewed the six 3-D pictures from the film. The book measures 9.5" x 7" and has 60 pages which are in generally good condition. However, the front cover and spine are detached from the back cover and there are the remains of old tape repairs. The pages are all intact and untorn but, of the 41 black and white illustrations, one has been coloured in by a child and three others have some added colouring to part of the pictures. However, even as a somewhat flawed item, this is a rare enough piece of early Disney memorabilia to be worthy of inclusion in either a Snow White or early Disney collection. (WR) US$390.00
