1960s Waddington Careers Game - Complete in Box. 1960s Waddington Careers Game - Complete in Box.(Reference #LBC412)
Made by John Waddington of England, the makers of Monopoly, this game of careers was very popular throughout the 1960s. It is very much a game of its time, as the choice of careers demonstrates: farming, business, uranium, politics, sea, moon, or Hollywood. The board measures 19" square, and all the other contents (instruction leaflet, two dice, plastic playing pieces, cards, money, and score sheets) are housed in a large box (19" by 10"). The game is complete and in eminently suitable condition for playing; the only minor defects to report are minor taping and marking to the box lid. (WR) US$30.00

1930s English Chad Valley Tour of Switzerland Board Game(Reference #09-8-19)
Games about touring England and Scotland are relatively common, but this one about touring Switzerland most emphatically is not. Made by Chad Valley in the 1930s, the Swiss Federal Railways contributed a lot of information for this game which perhaps explains why the instruction leaflet reads like a tourist brochure. It is a fairly typical travel game involving rewards and penalties depending on where you land. For example, you have to pay three counters to visit Geneva because it is 'a city rich in historical, literary and political association'. The game is complete with 48 counters, four tinplate markers (intact, but somewhat worn), a dice, and shaker. The instruction leaflet is torn and grimy, but is all there. The board (19.5" x 12") is beautifully printed and in very good condition. The box hasn't fared as well over the years, as it suffers from some staining, taping, and scuffing, and the bottom is pushed in. However, the game is very unusual and it's in eminently playable condition. US$70.00

1960s English Chad Valley British Towns Quiz 1960s English Chad Valley British Towns Quiz(Reference #09-8-20)
Made by Chad Valley of England in the 1960s, this is a very unusual board game that we have never seen before. It consists of a box containing a cardboard map of Britain, an egg timer, a spinner, and some coloured sticks. Once a player has spun the spinner, the object of the game is to place as many of the sticks into the holes representing towns beginning with the same letter as that shown on the spinner before the sand in the timer runs out. The game is in very good condition for its age, although some of the coloured sticks are probably missing. However, there are more than enough to play the game. The box (15" x 11") suffers from minor scuffing and tearing, but features some truly vibrant graphics that are very much of their time.

1970s German Reproduction Game of Goose(Reference #9-2-01fg)
The game of goose has a long and venerable history dating back two centuries; this reproduction of an earlier French version dates from the 1970s and has instructions in French, German and Finnish. The cardboard playing board measures 16" by 10" and has the instructions printed in French in the middle. The lithography is very colourful, and the board is in very good condition. It is still contained in its original box (5.5" x 8") which suffers from paper loss, scuffing, marking, and minor graffiti. The German instructions are printed on the inside of the lid; the Finnish instructions are on a separate leaflet. The instructions make it plain that it is the players' responsibility to equip themselves with distinctive counters and two dice. (J) US$20.00

Pre-war English Boxed GIL Squarem Board Game Pre-war English Boxed GIL Squarem Board Game(Reference #75-119)
Made by Games Industries of London (GIL) in the pre-war period, this is a most unusual board game. Attractively packaged in its original box, the game consists of a coloured chequerboard (12" square) and four sets of cardboard counters in their own box. The objective of the game is to complete as many squares as possible. The way to do this is to fill in all four sides of a square with your counters and then place a fifth counter in the bed of the square so formed. The board and the counters are in exceptionally good condition; the box bottom suffers from crushing and scuffing; the box lid suffers from water damage, staining, tearing, and scuffing. If you're a lover of unusual early games, then don't let this opportunity pass you by. (WR) US$20.00

1960s Boxed Tri-ang Moon Probe Board Game(Reference #mpgame)
Made by Tri-ang of England in the 1960s, this is an exciting space game consisting of a playing board depicting the flight to the moon, five different coloured plastic space ships, a set of instructions, and a dial with spinner. The first player to reach the moon and then make the return journey to earth is the winner. In effect, this is a space race game with bonuses and hazards marked on the board in the usual manner. The board measures 16" square; it is in very good condition. The only minor defects to report are the lack of one spaceship (there should be six rather than five), and some scuffing, tearing, and paper loss to the box lid which features the most wonderful graphic of the moon probe on take-off. If space memorabilia is your passion, then don't miss this opportunity to acquire this early space game. (WR) US$50.00

1965 UK Waddington's Boxed Spy Ring Game 1965 UK Waddington's Boxed Spy Ring Game(Reference #04-3-8)
Waddington's introduced their popular SPY RING game in 1965, at around the time when all spy-related things were the rage, as witnessed by the success of such characters as James Bond and The Man from Uncle. This example is complete with all the playing pieces, cards, dice, instructions, and playing board (20 by 19.5 inches); and is in excellent condition throughout. The only slight disappointment is some scuff marking to the top section of the box lid. Why not relive your childhood now with a round of SPY RING, a WADDINGTON'S game for 2, 3, or 4 players? 1960s French Cardboard/Plastic Game of Goose(Reference #66-9d)
The game of goose has a long and venerable history dating back two centuries; this example dates from the 1960s and was obviously a cheap game in its day. It is, however, in original and mint condition. The cardboard playing board measures 10 inches square, and has the instructions printed in French in the middle. It is very humorous, with squares depicting a goose reading a racing newspaper, and a chick appearing out of the top of a boiled egg. The game is completed by three plastic geese, and two wooden dice that are also included in the stapled plastic bag. It is excellent condition, with no defects whatsoever to report. (WR) US$20.00

1940s German Boxed Games Compendium 1940s German Boxed Games Compendium(Reference #0-5-77)
Made by Spiele Schmidt of Munich, Germany in the immediate post-war period for export to France, this complete and boxed games compendium contains boards and playing pieces for six games. These are solitaire, the mill game, draughts, halma, horse racing, and ludo. The boards are double-sided and measure almost 12 inches square. The playing pieces are made of wood. All of the components are in very good condition, and the compendium does not appear to have been used very much, if at all. The box lid suffers from slight paper loss and taping, but does feature the most delightful graphic of children carrying games, together with a smiling teddy bear of the period. This is a complete and colourful item that would enhance any collection of games compendiums. (WR) US$30.00
