1930s French Memo Tinplate W/U Aeroplane 1930s French Memo Tinplate W/U Aeroplane(Reference #CDH868)
Made by Memo (Mery Gutmann) of France in the 1930s, this attractive little (6" long) printed tinplate plane is in full working order. Wind it up by means of the integral key under the wing, and it goes along a treat. The plane is subtly lithographed in red and silver, and bears the number 701, the legend FABRICATION FRANCAISE, and the Memo logo of a boy's head in a circle. The toy is in very acceptable condition for its age, with only slight surface scratching to report. US$200.00

1919 German Bing Monoplane and Aero-Tower Toy(Reference #1-4-56)
This sturdily constructed tinplate and clockwork aeroplane toy dates from 1919, as is shown by the maker's logo on the propeller. Gebruder Bing were one of Germany's premier toy manufacturers. The toy stands 12" tall and consists of four separate and detachable pieces: the tower, the cross-piece, the plane itself, and a ball that acts as the counter-weight. It was probably inspired by the successful crossing of the English Channel by Louis Bleriot on 25 July 1909. The toy's large wooden propellers and wing shape are very reminiscent of the monoplane which was built in large numbers. The toy works as well as ever it did, but it does have a lot in common with early flight itself in that it can have varying results. However, if you wind the plane fully (up to 30 turns of the integral key), it takes off and flies some way up the pole. You then repeat this process a couple of times until the plane reaches the top of the tower. At that point, the lever on the cross-bar engages with the lever on the tower, and the plane slowly revolves back down the pole and glides to a graceful landing courtesy of gravity. The plane is equipped with a fully functioning clockwork motor, a pilot, a lever that holds the propeller in place while the toy is being wound, and also has the ability to fly in either direction (just move the lever on the cross-bar). It is in very acceptable condition for its age but, as you would expect with a 90-year old toy, it does have a certain patina. This is most evident on the chassis of the plane and the ball which has also faded somewhat. However, this is still an absolutely splendid tinplate toy from Germany's golden age.

1960s West German Huki Tin Friction Helicopter 1960s West German Huki Tin Friction Helicopter(Reference #05-10-30)
This is yet another piece of superb old shop stock from Mr Punch. In full working order, this 7.5" long toy was made by Huki (Hubert Kienberger) of Western Germany in the 1960s. Brightly printed in red, blue and yellow, the litho features a variety of passengers and a pilot. The helicopter is in the condition in which it left the factory all those years ago. The friction motor works well, and pushes the rotors round as the helicopter runs along the ground. (*) US$58.00

Early 1960s Boxed Schuco Diecast Lufthansa Boeing 747(Reference #04-5-03a)
Made by Schuco of Germany between 1965 and 1976, this excellent diecast model is old shop stock and is therefore in mint and boxed condition. It represents a Lufthansa Boeing 747 and measures 3.75" long. It is product number 784/4. The plane is complete with its original box and packing paper. The box is complete and intact; it just suffers from slight crushing. If you're a fan of Lufthansa, Boeing 747s, or aircraft toys with logos, then here's an item that should prove irresistible. (WR) US$20.00
